UK Money Blogger Probably Busy

All about… Probably Busy

Money and music make for a great mix in Chiino’s blog, Probably Busy. Along with lessons on entrepreneurship from Grime MC’s to the best places to sell on cd’s, there are plenty of fresh posts on how to make money.

We learned more about Chiino’s blog and how he got started writing about money.

Tell us about your blog.

ProbablyBusy.com happened because I like making money online, I sell things on eBay and Amazon, and any blog of mine would be incomplete without a music section.
I put the lot together late last year, just before a baby boy came into my life.
Unlike a lot of UK Money Bloggers, I stay away from the money saving side. I may try to find lots of ways to reduce my expenditure in real life, but I mainly stick to the money making content on Probably Busy. I’ve been experimenting with various ways to boost my income since 2007, so I have a couple of things to share.
With a son now, I have an even greater need to find the most efficient ways to earn more.

Why do you write about money?

Once I finished school, I was determined not to get a job, because I heard you can make money online.

I found a whole world of opportunities and tried various different things to get my funds up. Although I eventually needed to get myself a job, I learned so much by doing surveys, reviewing, writing, gigging, and anything I could do to get paid from home.

When I tell people in real life about online money making opportunities, they don’t seem to listen or believe me. There are thousands of people online that will, so I feel the need to share what works, what doesn’t, and raise awareness that there are options for everyone.

How did you start blogging?

I found blogging through music journalism, and ended up being a guest blogger for years before I had my own site.

I started this blog after introducing my now-fiancée into this world. I suggested it as something she could get into. She loved it, and then converted me too.

What’s your most popular post and why?

The Wickedest Guide to Media + Book Trade Ins. I actually launched my blog with this post.

Music Magpie adverts were everywhere a few years back and it meant that they became the go-to for all CD, DVD and game trade-ins. I wanted to make sure people knew what they were actually doing with all of that stuff they get given, and to show them they can probably get more back if they use one of their competitors. I

t’s been my most popular post from the beginning. When I get emails about my blog, they’re either about Amazon or Music Magpie.

What’s your favourite post you’ve written, and why?

Jme is a Grime MC from London, and he’s a very creative entrepreneur. I wanted to let people know just how strong his skills beyond music actually are, and how it’s helped me to adjust the way I go about developing new business ideas. This post goes into all of it.

I even commissioned a painting of him to go along with the post, just to give it an extra push.

What’s your number one money tip?

Diversify your income.

If your online cash is from a full-time job, it better be a very well-paying one. The same goes for if you’ve got a decent side income, but it’s just from one source.

The more you can build up, the more secure you will be in the long-term.

What’s your top blogging tip?

Make it part of your routine.

Once you have time set aside for blogging, or you create a publishing schedule, it gives you the momentum to keep posting consistently. That consistency is valuable.

Why are you part of UK Money Bloggers?

I’ve seen how other blogger communities operate, and they’re nothing like UK Money Bloggers. There’s so much valuable information thrown about in that Facebook group.

Who are your three favourite UK Money Bloggers?

Katy Kicker – Myself and Katy had both used to write for the same low-paying review website back in the day. Now we’re both bloggers (making proper money writing online). We also both have a child, so I can relate to her desire to live a life where you have the convenience of working when you want, so you can be there for a little one.
Emma Drew – She’s got an admirable story, and she actually shows people how they can follow in her footsteps to change their lives too. How can you not appreciate Emma’s blog?
Jenni Hill – Jenni’s first hand account of what it’s *actually* like to use Swagbucks – was my favourite UK Money Blogger post of 2016.
The fact that she diverts people away from similar distractions and focuses young people with their financial journeys makes her one of my favourites.
