All about… I Beat Debt
Many money bloggers are motivated by personal experience of debt and breaking free from it, and this is true of Vicky Eves of I Beat Debt. Vicky’s experience is unusual, however, in the intriguing manner in which she cleared half of her debt in one day. We asked Vicky about her blog and her story.
Tell us about your blog.
I blog about money and debt. I was in debt and debt management a few years ago, and my blog includes information about debt management and tips to make and save money.
Why do you write about money?
I blog about money as it is a subject a lot of people don’t want to talk about. I feel that my experience might help others to open up and get on top of their finances and I think it’s great if I can help.
How did you start blogging?
I wanted to set up a blog or website to teach myself aspects of web design. It took me a few attempts to find a subject that I was passionate enough about to make a go of, and now I love it.
What’s your most popular post and why?
My post about how I cleared half my debt in one day by going on a TV quiz show has been really popular and I’ve gotten the most amount of feedback on.
What’s your favourite post you’ve written, and why?
I loved writing about going on the quiz show, but equally the post about my experience of debt management was really personal. I’ve also had great feedback on that. I really hope it helps others and takes the stigma away from debt.
What’s your number one money tip?
Have a budget! Even if it’s notes on a bit of paper, or a complicated spreadsheet, tracking your income and outgoings will help you keep on top of your finances.
What’s your top blogging tip?
Find something you enjoy writing about and researching. Look at other bloggers’ sites but put your own touch on it.
Why are you part of UK Money Bloggers?
To network and connect with other money bloggers. They’ve also been a massive support, in particular in the Facebook group where I’ve had really helpful and speedy replies to questions I have had.
