Uk Money Blogger Profile: Brit on a Budget

Tell us about your blog.

My blog, www.britonabudget.co.uk was created in March 2018 when I decided I wanted to research ways to boost my income. I was on an apprentice wage of £3.30 an hour which definitely wasn’t enough to pay bills and run a car! I found a few methods that worked for me, and decided I wanted to share them with other people. As well as writing about new ways to boost your income, I also write about saving money, debt and how you can manage your money better.

Why do you write about money?

I don’t feel that we are taught enough important life lessons at school, such as how to properly budget your money, the ins and outs of getting a mortgage, what a credit card is etc!

How did you start blogging?

It was something that had been on my mind for a while. I love to write, but I was worried about putting my thoughts out there on the internet. I was absolutely bricking it the day I published my first post!

What’s your most popular post and why?

My most popular post is called How To Spring Clean Your Life in 24 Hours. It was the 3rd post I ever published and it is still very popular to this day. I think the tips are very handy and it can work as a great checklist if you feel like you want to refresh your life.

What’s your favourite post you’ve written, and why?

My favourite post has to be How To Make An Extra £100 a Day in Your Spare Time. I think it resonates well with my audience as they come to my blog looking for ways to make money, and it also gave me an opportunity to try new ways to make some cash!

What’s your top blogging tip?

Definitely start building your email list as soon as you start your blog. I made the mistake of not doing this straight away which meant that I missed the chance of getting some returning traffic.

Why are you part of UK Money Bloggers?

I love being able to connect with other likeminded bloggers who understand the blogging world! The group are very knowledgeable and everyone helps each other out.

Who are your three favourite UK Money Bloggers?

Emma Drew, Mrs Mummy Penny and From Pennies to Pounds. I love their blogs and they inspire me to keep creating content.

And now…some quickfire questions

What’s your number one money tip?

If you can’t afford it, don’t buy it!

What is the best bargain you have ever bought?

I did some research a while back on the times of day supermarkets reduce their items, so I love to pop in between those times and pick up some bargains!

What is a product / service you are happy to pay the extra for?

My laptop. I actually saved up my amazon vouchers from various survey websites to pay for the majority of my laptop. I couldn’t afford to buy an expensive laptop but I was happy to wait a while to get a laptop that could help me with my blog.

Tell us something about yourself.

I watch pretty much every reality tv programme! I’m not sure what it is about them that makes me want to watch, but something just draws me in!

And finally…where can we find you on social media?
