Tell us about your blog.

My blog is called www.mrsmummypenny.co.uk. I write about all things money and family related. I might post one day about personal finance and how to cut your water bills, and then another about a cheap day out with the family or a fun crafting idea. Often I will focus on events and write about ways to celebrate on a budget.

Why do you write about money?

I have always been obsessed with saving money from a young age and I have always loved sharing my money saving tips with my friends. A perfect combination was to create my website and social media world to share my tips with the world. I get such a buzz when I am thanked for my tips and advice, it is so rewarding!

How did you start blogging?

I started Mrs Mummypenny whilst on maternity leave in 2013. I needed something to keep my brain going before my return to work so decided one day to go for it and set up the website. I returned to work for 2 years, but since July 2015 I left my full time job and have been running Mrs Mummypenny.

What’s your most popular post and why?

By far my most popular post is –  How to complain to Npower.

Written 2 years ago…its ranked high on google and I get maybe 20 views a day! Npower has made mistakes with a lot of customers who need help!

What’s your favourite post you’ve written and why?

My favourite post has to be ‘My weight loss mission on a Mrs Mummypenny budget’. A really personal post that resonates with a lot of women particularly on the psychological battle of losing weight. I have had so much positive feedback from this article, honesty and opening up about yourself is so important when you blog.

What’s your number one money tip?

Use cashback websites when buying anything online. It really is money for nothing. It’s so simple to set up an account with TopCashback or Quidco. Find the company you wish to purchase from on the cashback website, click through the link and buy as normal. Watch your cashback balance grow and grow. My TopCashback account has paid out £1400 in the 3 years its been open. That is a lot of free money!

What’s your top blogging tip?

Create engaging, creative content that will keep your readers coming back to your website time and time again. I like to do a good mixture of personal creative content that is unpaid alongside my paid content.

Why are you part of UK Money Bloggers?

I jumped at the chance of joining the UK Money community. It’s great to be able to talk freely to others who understand your blogging world, the good, the bad and the ugly. There is inspiration and ideas galore to help each other with our websites.

Who are your three favourite UK Money Bloggers?

My favourites are Debt Camel who writes great content about a subject that I know very little about. From Aldi to Harrods has so much brilliant content about great ways to make and save money and she keeps her content so up to date. I also love Mummy Money Matters, this was the first money/family blog I read after appearing on there 3 years ago!
