2018 SHOMOs – The finalists

SHOMOs awards 2018

The finalists for the UK Money Bloggers’ annual awards – the SHOMOs – have been decided, and we and we can reveal the name of the blogs competing for 13 of the 17 awards.

The winners will be announced at our annual conference in London on 17th November 2018.

How the shortlists were decided

Bloggers and readers could all nominate any independent blogs for whichever categories they wanted. All those longlisted for a category were checked for eligibility and split into four groups. The two co-chairs of the SHOMO award, Karyn Fleeting (Miss Thrifty) and Andy Webb (Be Clever With Your Cash), were joined by three different members of the SHOMOs committee for each category. A total of 12 bloggers form the committee in addition to Andy and Karyn.

To ensure independence, committee members could not shortlist a category they were longlisted for, and Karyn and Andy withdrew their blogs from contention on all categories.

  1. Congratulations to all the bloggers whose blogs have been shortlisted! A special shout out to the organisers and to those who helped in the process of coming up with the shortlists. I look forward to hearing the results. The sponsors look like a great bunch too, so thanks to them as well. We are especially chuffed to be shortlisted and are also happy to be able to share in the next exciting months!

  2. Really exciting stuff! Congrats to everyone who made the shortlist and those considered.

Many thanks to the judges for all the time spent doing all the behind the scenes work. And to the sponsors for making this all happen.

    See you in November. Goodluck!
