All about… Money Saving Journeys

Kerry from Money Saving Journeys covers a range of subjects to do with money, such as saving, earning and household management – but it’s travelling that’s particularly close to her heart. We had a chance to chat to Kerry about her blog journey and motivation.

Tell us about your blog.

Money Saving Journeys is about debt busting, money saving, money making and travelling on a budget.

Why do you write about money?

I wanted to write about my experiences of saving money, making money and travelling (which is my love).

I like to save as much as I can and get the best deals. I am investigating ways of increasing my income. As a working mum, this has to fit in around work and the boys.

How did you start blogging?

I am always passing on information to friends and colleagues when I come across great deals etc., and one day, one of them just casually said “you should start a blog”, and the seed was born.

I loved reading other people’s blogs and decided to give it a go.

What’s your most popular post and why?

My most popular post is How to Make Money on Your Mobile Phone with One Pulse.

For anyone wanting to make money, at anytime, using their mobile phone, this is a review of a great app. You only earn a few pence each time, but it soon adds up and is definitely worth adding to your arsenal of online money making activities.

What’s your favourite post you’ve written, and why?

My favourite is more of a series than one particular post, although they are all around the same topic – debt busting.

I’ve even created a free course which will help get people in the right place to begin their debt busting journey. It breaks the tasks up into 6 steps rather than facing them all in one go.

What’s your number one money tip?

Know where your money is going! If you can keep track of what you are spending and where, you can react quickly to a change in circumstances.

What’s your top blogging tip?

Don’t be afraid to approach other bloggers (even famous ones) for advice.

I have been truly surprised and grateful for the support I have received. I just wish I had more time to contribute myself – maybe one day!

Why are you part of UK Money Bloggers?

I found UK Money Bloggers via your Facebook group. It is full of friendly and supportive bloggers, all at different stages of their blogging journey, all with a wealth of experience.

Who are your three favourite UK Money Bloggers?

I can’t answer this – there are just so many – Emma Drew, Cass Bailey of Diary of a Frugal Family, Lee Balders of Homely Economics, Katie Kicker, Francesca of From Pennies to Pounds and many more!
